Background and Training
Dr. Mahoney earned her B.A. in Psychology and Child Development from Tufts University. She then went on to earn her M.S. and C.A.G.S. in School Psychology, and Ph.D. in Counseling and Applied Educational Psychology from Northeastern University. She completed her predoctoral internship at Harvard Medical School/Cambridge Health Alliance where she treated patients in the child, adolescent and adult outpatient clinics. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Brown University/Bradley Hospital, where she provided treatment to children and adolescents in a therapeutic educational setting. She has extensive experience working with children and adults in individual therapy, couples counseling, parent coaching, and executive functioning coaching. She most recently worked at Boston Child Study Center as an outpatient psychologist and Director of School Consultation. Dr. Mahoney has also been a consultant to schools and businesses around children's behavioral and mental health needs.
Dr. Mahoney has received extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Gottman Couples Therapy as well as other evidence-based practices.She is also certified in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) and has received advanced training in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
