Maternal Mental Health

I work with mothers to address concerns including anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, feeling lost or searching for purpose, relationship stress, inattention and distractibility, or navigating life's adjustments and transitions. I recognize the unique challenges associated with family life and strive to provide a non-judgmental space for individuals seeking support related to pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum health, and parenting throughout their child's life and other times of transitions. I support clients embarking on their journey to parent hood and helps them through the potential joys and challenges along the way.

Maternal mental health impacts the well-being of both the mother and the child, as well as the partner, and can affect physical and emotional development, family dynamics, and quality of life. I work with mothers to prioritize their own maternal mental health, whether it is during family planning, bringing baby home, or at any point during parenting. Through this work, I help support mothers in achieving healthy pregnancies, positive postpartum experiences, and strong parent-child relationships.

Maternal mental health doesn't just refer to the time immediately following the addition of a child to the family. I specialize in helping mothers navigate other challenging times in their lives, including going back to work after time off, making the decision to stay home with their child, or figuring out what they want to do after years of caring for their family. Experiences that bring women to therapy may include feelings of overwhelm from caregiving, experiencing career transitions, seeking new job opportunities, caring for aging parents, marital changes, children leaving the home, or coping with aging.

Areas of speciality include:
Individual Counseling for Women
Perinatal Mood Disorders (Anxiety, Depression, OCD)

Parent/Child Relationships
Life Transitions
Work/Life Balance
Caregiver Support

Goals of therapy often include helping women rediscover their sense of self and values in different areas and phases of their lives, redefining their identity and purpose as they navigate shifts in their social or family life, and building on emotional resilience and self-reflection. I enjoy helping women navigate these changes, find balance between being a parent and an individual, and connect to their values to establish goals and make informed decisions around their professional and personal lives.
